Frederick first met Ida when the family were living at Wallumbilla before the Stolz clan Fred, Adolf, Emily, August and his Mother-in-Law Granny Kirchner (who had raised the children since the death of his wife Louise) moved on to a balloted Prickley Pear block near Emerald in Central Queensland in 1911.

The family still have some of the letters that the 2 exchanged prior to their Marriage in Roma.
